Last Christmas...

I overcame my acrophobia and crossed the "BlackForest line" bridge. The place, where I truly got the meaning of the phrase "breathtaking view": winter forest with water-falls, which you can see in 360 degree view and through the semi-transparent floor of the bridge. Scary and beautiful (see the pictures). On my way down the hill, I was happily thinking about the upcoming 2024 and about all things I planned: new job in January, number of private plans, etc.

Well, 2024 turned out to be very different compared to a year I imagined myself back then and most of my plans could not be implemented. Let's call it an unexpected resilience test.

Thus it's especially important for me to document the great things that have happened to me this year.

Among other things:

  • 12 of my mentees reached their goal to get a job in the Data field2 got promoted, 1 finished master thesis, 1 quickly advanced from "I don't know anything about ML" to the level of "I know the basics of classical ML, Computer Vision and NLP and can do independent projects".

Very happy and proud for each of you! And thankful for the opportunity to meet many talented people via mentoring.

  • I've got a new job. Twice.

Starting a second new job during the same calendar year is strange, to say the least. I was also unemployed and then full time self-employed for some time in between.   Bingo of employment :)

  • 138k people have seen my posts on LinkedIn this year

I know, I know, Taylor Swift would laugh at me, but hey, my background is LiveJornal with 10+ friends! Regular posting on LinkedIn takes a lot of time and energy. Many thanks to the people, who approach me at events to share that they follow me and like the content I post here. I appreciate it very much!

Here one should share a wisdom or advice, but I don't have any. The only thing I learnt is when you think you have seen everything, the Universe always finds a way to surprise you. So hold on tight 🤪

Happy New Year!
