ABOUT ME
My approach to mentoring
A few years ago, AI was a niche topic. Today, it’s everywhere, more accessible than ever, yet often overwhelming. I’ve seen talented people from all backgrounds: Data Scientists, ML Engineers, full-stack developers, PMs, and C-level leaders, which asking themselves the same question:
Where do I start, and how do I keep up?
That’s where I come in.
As mentor, I’ve been lucky to work with brilliant individuals and support them in achieving big goals, whether it’s landing a dream job or stepping up into a new role. Together, we’ve celebrated offers and promotions from places like Bosch, Cariad, Blue Yonder, Continental, OTTO, Delivery Hero, Capgemini Invent, Hapag Lloyd, Bon Prix, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, Signal Iduna, Amazon, and many more.
What I’ve learned is simple: any goal is reachable, if you’re willing to break it down into doable steps and stay committed.
If you’re dreaming of becoming a Data Professional, or you already are one, but feel unsure about your next step in this fast-moving field - let’s talk. We’ll figure out a path that works for you, and we’ll walk it together.
My story
My background is particle physics, where I was completely spoiled by access to large amounts of data and the freedom to try out every hot ML algorithm on it. The experiments I participated in were so-called large scale experiments (e.g Large Hadron Collider) and had from 500+ up to 2.5k other people working on them. So in addition to physics, I was exposed to the best software development practices that helped us to avoid a complete mess and destroy the Universe.
Afterwards, I spent some time in Blue Yonder, a software vendor company that creates B2B SaaS solutions for the Supply Chain industry. Where I learned a big deal about what it takes to go from "it works on my laptop" to "it smoothly runs for a global retail across 30 countries 24/7". As part of the customer-facing team I had the opportunity to learn about the culture and data-driven applications in many leading companies in retail and manufacturing (Heineken, IKEA, Coca-Cola, AVON, Starbucks, Galeria-Kaufhof, Globus, Martin-Brower, PepsiCo, Morrisons, etc)
Next I had a short stop at e-commerce, fantastic field, which has data encoded in its DNA, where smart data usage is crucial for many parts of the business. Here I had pleasure working with NLP and deep dive into the world of informational retrieval, search, SEO and recommender systems as a hands-on Data Science Manager at Kaufland e-commerce (marketplace active just in 3 countries back then).
Currently I'm busy with pushing forward ML/AI & BI at Vattenfall and mentoring and contributing to the growth of the next generation of data science elite: from Data Analysts up to ML Engineers.
